Describe the image, then choose the delivery target
A shot definition should capture the intended composition and narrative job: a medium shot, an over-the-shoulder exchange, an 85 mm portrait, a character placed left of frame, or a visual reveal that changes what the audience understands.
Aspect ratio answers a different question. It belongs to a render profile: a reusable set of delivery decisions for a master, YouTube upload, square feed post, vertical short, or advertising placement.
A cleaner model for evolving workflows
Keeping these concepts separate lets creators revise formats without corrupting the source plan. It also makes a single shot easier to use across different deliverables while keeping its storywide purpose intact.
