What “master” means in this workflow
The master is not necessarily one finished film or a rigid final cut. It can be the strongest approved visual source for a shot or sequence: material that reflects the intended characters, setting, action, composition, and continuity before channel-specific adaptation begins.
Treating that source as canonical gives collaborators a shared reference. When a short edit, trailer, paid variation, or vertical version changes the presentation, the team can still see which creative decisions came from the story and which were introduced for delivery.
Why platform-first planning fragments context
If every channel starts with its own prompt and shot plan, small differences accumulate. A character description changes in one brief. A location loses an important detail in another. A social cut emphasizes a beat that no longer matches the larger sequence. The team then has to reconcile several competing sources.
A master-first workflow reduces that duplication:
- Connect the relevant story knowledge and visual references.
- Define the purpose and progression of the sequence.
- Plan shots around what the audience needs to see and understand.
- Generate and review master material against that intent.
- Hand the approved source to post-production for deliberate versions.
This is a planning principle, not a promise that every derivative can be created by cropping. Some destinations will need new edits or purpose-built shots.
